Qingbingtan 72 Glacier station
Contributing Station Information

Qingbingtan 72 Glacier station is located at the westmost of Tianshan Mountains in China. This area is the biggest glaciated area within the Asian continent. The glacial meltwater has high portion in the streamflow, above 40 percent on average. It is the main water source of Tarim River. The observation of this station started in 2007. Up to now, the observation include mass balance, the area and the terminal change, movement speed, energy balance, the temperature, change of glacier elevation, the thickness, the debris on the surface and the ablation of the glaciers, hydrometeor, snow ice and aerosol chemistry. This glacier belongs to tuomuer-type glacier and has the debris on the surface.
