Miaoergou Ice Cap Station
Reference CryoNet Station Information

Miaoergou Ice Cap Station is located at the eastern Tianshan. It is the extreme arid area of the easternmost segement of Tianshan Mountains and it is the good reference glacier to study the influence of glacier on water resources and the record of sandstorm. The observation of the Miaoergou Ice Cap Station began in 2004, including the observation of glacier mass balance, the thickness of glacier, the temperature, the area, and the movement speed. In 2005, two ice cores were drilled down in the top glacier.
