Hveravellir
Reference CryoNet Station Information

The Hveravellir manned weather station was established by the Icelandic Meteorological Office in 1965. By then it was the only manned research and monitoring station within the uninhabited highland region of Iceland. The station has been operated with automatic systems since 2004 and is frequently visited by IMO staff. The observational programme has included measurements of temperature, precipitation, atmospheric pressure, wind speed, wind direction, humidity, solar radiation, visibility, cloud cover, cloud base altitude, ground temperature, snow cover, snow thickness, snow density and water equivalent, snowdrift and icing.
