Muz Taw glacier station Primary CryoNet Station Information
Muz Taw glacier station located at the northern side of the Altay Mountains with an area of 4.27 km2. The elevation from glacier terminus to the highest point ranges from 3090 to 3800 m, and the glacier length is 3.7 km. The snow line of this glacier is 3310 m, and the ice volume is 0.28 km3 with an average ice thickness of 66 m. Now the Muz Taw glacier has shrunk extremely due to dramatic melting in the past few decades. The observation of Muz Taw glacier station began in 2014 which involved the observation of glacier mass balance, terminal change, movement speed, and the meteorological phenomena of glacial zone.
