Altay Site is located in Altai Mountains regions where is important to the water source of Central Asia and plays an important role on the local water balance and environment. The Altai Mountains regions are the headwaters of the Irtysh River, which is the only one in the country that flows into the Arctic Ocean. Altay Site is a field work station which main research the glacier and snow cover. Altay consist of the Basic Station and Kanas Station. Basic Station main task is to monitor the Muz Taw Glacier. The monitoring object is glacier, snow cover and other geography factor. Glacier monitoring includes the mass balance, thickness, glacial change and so an. Meanwhile, Altay Site often studies the meteorological, hydrological and ecological environment in arid and semi-arid regions. These research will be important to regional ecological structure, environmental protection and sustainable development.
Data availability (may depend on the variable measured): delayed less than one year

Measurements
The measurements made at Altay site are listed in the following tables. This is a combination of measurements made at the stations within the site, where the start and end years in the tables are the earliest and latest years of measurement. (Note: If End Year is blank, measurements are ongoing.)
