Sponsors

The World Meteorological Organization (WMO) is GCW's primary sponsor.

Many national agencies - primarily the national meteorological and hydrological services (NMHS) - support GCW by providing personnel for GCW teams and working groups, observing stations, and data. These include, but are not limited to, the Australian Department of the Environment, the Arctic and Antarctic Research Institute (Russia), the China Academy of Sciences, the China Meteorological Administration, Environment Canada, the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, the Finnish Meteorological Institute, the Geological Survey of Denmark and Greenland, the National Council of Research (Italy), the Icelandic Meteorological Office, the Laboratoire de Glaciologie et Géophysique (France), the Norwegian Meteorological Institute, the University of Graz (Austria), the Japan Agency for Marine-Earth Science and Technology, the National Meteorological Service (Argentina), the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (USA), the Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research, and the Zentralanstalt für Meteorologie und Geodynamik (Austria). These and other national agencies and institutions have also provided focal points as national contacts for issues related to the cryosphere.
